Spec guide

What each spec on the ENIGMA page means, and how we label where a number comes from.

Static weight

What it tells you
What the paddle weighs on a scale.
Known limits
Says little about how the paddle feels to swing.

Swing weight

What it tells you
How heavy the paddle feels when you swing it. Lower is quicker at the kitchen line; higher is more stable on drives.
Known limits
Depends on the rig and pivot distance, so numbers from different rigs are not directly comparable.

Twist weight

What it tells you
How well the paddle resists twisting on off-centre hits. Higher is more forgiving.
Known limits
Same caveat as swing weight: method matters.

Balance point

What it tells you
Where the paddle balances along its length.
Known limits
Measured from a fixed reference point; we state which.

Dimensions

What it tells you
Length, width, thickness, grip length and grip circumference.
Known limits
Production paddles vary slightly; we show the range.

Spin rate

What it tells you
Measured spin on a standard shot.
Known limits
Spin depends on the player, ball and shot, so a single number is a comparison tool, not a promise.

How we label specs.

  • Printed: the number or word is printed on the paddle.
  • Visible: you can see it on the paddle.
  • Measured: we took the measurement, and the method is stated.
  • Unmeasured specs are not shown. We don't guess.

Our claims policy.

  • We publish what we measured.
  • We don't use 1–10 scores.
  • We don't claim certification we haven't verified.
  • If a number changes, we say so on this page.
